Please ensure that you get an accredited gas distributor or a trained professional (authorized LPG gas practitioner – registered installer) to install, repair or service your gas appliances. Trying to repair your installation or gas appliance yourself is very dangerous and could be life threatening.
Buy your LPG from an approved gas distributor because they will supplyregistered safe cylinders. They only fill cylindersafter a thorough check to make sure theyare safe to use
Regulations say that you may have a maximum of 19Kg in-doors in a house, or a maximum of 9Kg in a flat. If cylinders are stored outside you are allowed to have a maximum of 48Kg on your property
Store gas cylinders upright, and in a location which is wellventilated, away from heat and flames and the cylinders must be readily accessible. The storage area should be free from obstructions and flammable things such as paper and wood
Cylinders that are not in use should be returned to an approved dealer as soon as possible
Arrange for a registered installer to check the LPG cylinders or check the gas appliance if it is found that it is not operating normally
If a gas leak is suspected, close the valve of the LPG cylinder and switch off the gas appliance. Extinguish any naked flames, open all windows, and call a registered gas installer to check the LPG cylinder and the appliance

- If the hose is brittle or cracked, take the appliance to an approved gas distributor to replace the hose
- Check that the hose is properly secured to both the regulator and the appliance by means of a clamp
- Check that there is a washer on the tip of the regulator, and that it is not brittle or cracked: If it is damaged or missing, get a replacement from an approved gas distributor.
- When you screw the regulator into the cylinder valve, it screws in anti-clockwise. Make sure it screws in all the way. When you remove the regulator, it screws out clockwise.

- When you open the cylinder valve, open it gradually
- If you smell a bad chemical smell, you need to check for a gas leak. Check for leaks with a damp soapy sponge. Check each connection from the regulator to the appliance, the gas will blow bubbles where there is a leak. If you find a leak or the smell does not go away, do not light the appliance. Take your appliance to an approved gas distributor to be checked.
- When you want to light an appliance that does not auto-ignite, make sure to light the match or lighter first, before opening the cylinder valve
- When you are finished using any appliance, you MUST close the cylinder valve and the burner valve on your appliance
